City tour of Humenné
Visit the manor house, walk through the park, tour the museum and open-air museum. We recommend that you also visit the Vihorlat Observatory, which is located in the city center. It was founded in 1952 and is an important center of astronomical education, promotion, and observation in the region of Upper Zemplín.
Ascent to Viniansky castle
The ascent to Viniansky hrad offers you a wonderful view of the surrounding nature of the region and Zemplínská Šírava. You can end this short easy hike with a walk around Lake Vinné.
Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art
The world-famous Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art is located in Medzilaborce. You can combine the tour with an ascent to the Devil’s Rock, where you can find an engraved relief of the devil’s head. At the top of the hill, there is a board with the coat of arms of the village Krásny Brod. You can get there by taking a pleasant walk directly from the village of Krásny Brod, right at the beginning of the house of mourning, where you will also find reserved parking spaces.
A day trip to the village of Zemplínske Hámre
In the village of Zemplínske Hámre, you will find the Zemplín Museum, which exhibits an exposition of the history of mining and ironmongery and an exposition of agriculture and folk architecture. The Hámor educational trail will take you through the history of mining. You will learn how it used to be in the past, you will discover the architectural elements of stone masonry, which have not been preserved outside the Zemplín region, and you will learn more about the ingenious system of water canals. The nature trail has 14 stops and is 6.8 km long. You can also cycle along the sidewalk to stop number 13. Children will enjoy the tour of the Ranch with animals.
Mini zoo Juško in Snina
Animotherapeutic and equestrian center in the town of Snina where you can see the life of domestic animals, especially bison, which live in the wild only in the Poloniny National Park. In this mini zoo, you can try horseback riding, carriage rides, basket weaving, making pottery on a potter’s wheel, or learn more about saddlery and blacksmithing. In the city, we recommend visiting the Sninský manor house and refreshing yourself at the Sninské Rybníky organic swimming pool.
A trip to Vihorlat and Bukovec mountains
It will enchant you with its magical nature during the day as well as at night. In this district, there is an area with low levels of light pollution, the so-called dark sky park. The astronomical observatory in Kolonické sedlo can be found between the villages of Ladomírov and Kolonica. For evening observations of the sky, two telescopes on a concrete platform are reserved for the public, which can accommodate about 15 people. It is necessary to book in advance to observe the night sky.
Archeopark in Hanušovce nad Topľou
If you want to go back in time and look into the oldest period of human history, we recommend you to visit this Archeopark. It is a very unique archeological museum of experience and also the only living museum in nature in Slovakia. You will see 5 dwellings from five periods of prehistory and the early Middle Ages – the interior of the premises, sculptures of men, women, and children, but mainly replicas of archaeological objects. An important part of this area is a pottery workshop with a two-chamber furnace, an area with animals, and a jewelry glass furnace replica. You can diversify this trip by visiting the ruins of Čičva castle.
Rajd under Vihorlat
Rajd under Vihorlat is located in the village of Kamienka. Visitors can try horseback riding here, which is available all year round. They can also enjoy an unusual ride in a team led by snow dogs called mushing. Children can experience life in the Wild West and sit in an Indian tent. Rajd under Virholat offers various school, corporate, and training leisure activities with a program tailored to your preferences.
